About Us

Hanover Concert Band is a community band under the direction of Karla Bloom of Montpelier, Virginia, and we perform throughout Hanover County and the greater Richmond metro area. Founded in 1989, the Hanover Concert Band is celebrating its 36th year in 2025.

We are a group of dedicated amateur musicians who welcome newcomers to play with us. We invite you to rekindle your musical past and join us in providing the gift of live musical entertainment to our community.

We rehearse most Tuesday evenings, 7:00-9:00 PM, at the Hanover Arts and Activities Center, located at 500 S Center Street, in the heart of Ashland. We perform 12-15 concerts throughout the year.

Venues have included Hanover Tomato Festival, Virginia War Memorial, Virginia Center Commons Mall, Commemorative Celebrations at Wayside Veterans Memorial Park, various retirement communities, as well as Town of Ashland celebrations, including Strawberry Faire, Ashland 4th of July Event, Train Day, Hanover Arts and Activities Center fundraisers, and more.

Musicians of all ages are welcome to join the band. Auditions are not required, but musicians must be able to read music at a minimum difficulty level of grade III or better.
